Driving through the Everglades National Park, Florida.
So many things to talk about today! First a BIG announcement — one half of our team (me!) is going to be attending TBEX in Fort Lauderdale, FL this month! Yesterday, Jet Blue had this crazy sale for $31 fares anywhere in the country, so this was what pushed me over the edge on going (kind of silly right? but sometimes we need just a little incentive to confirm the decision.)
I am super excited, but nervous. I am an introvert, and a bit lazy one at that, and I have always had a bit of a distaste for networking. I like travel for travel’s sake, and not for blogging. I enjoy blogging because I like sharing advice, inspiring others to go out there, and because I like documenting for ourselves the stories, the emotions, and of course the photographs, which otherwise would probably live on rarely opened flickr pages (and that’s the best case scenario). SO…travel blogger conference, is that really for me? I don’t know. But if there is one thing that I have learned from travel is that you don’t know what you don’t know, and it’s best to just go ahead and take the plunge.
Earlier this week though I announced to Sergey that I was done with travel blogging, and I was sick and tired of it, and I didn’t have time, and I hated the way our site looked like, and what was the point anyway? Do you ever have moments like that? It happens to me every couple of months, but makes me super sad (so thank you, Jet Blue, from pulling me from the brink). But seriously, this hobby is SO time consuming, and now becoming expensive one as well. But I suppose so are most things in life that you are serious about.
At any rate, here’s three cheers to more travel and more blogging.
Sergey and I will be celebrating by taking a weekend trip next week to the tiny Smith Island in Chesapeake Bay, with no cars, just a few hundred residents, who fish for crab for living and speak a Gaelic dialect. I had no idea these communities still existed in the US. I can’t wait, it’s going to be magical!
Anyone else going to TBEX? What are your thoughts or advice on it? Also, very important question – is Fort Lauderdale walkable?
