Woodford reserve barrels of whiskey. Ah yesssss. Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
We made an impromptu long weekend trip to Kentucky last week, and despite my complaints of how travel is exhausting – we had a blast.
We drove straight shot from DC early Friday morning, arrived in Louisville to hang out with my dad, then spent the next morning exploring Kentucky’s bourbon trail. That’s a thing – and it’s glorious.
Saturday we arrived in Shenandoah valley of Central Virginia, and couldn’t quite get over just how ridiculously picturesque the setting was. Of course, it helped to be staying in an amazing AirBnB, with gorgeous views. Did I mention that we love AirBnB?
We made our way back driving through the clouds and up into the mountains via the Skyline Drive. Highly recommend, and if you have the time (which we will on our next visit!) explore by adding a hike or two to the itinerary.
We got such a travelers’ high from all of this fabulousness that we agreed to put another trip on the books, and now we are off to Dewey Beach in Delaware in two weeks — I am a bit scared, as it will coincide with running of the bulls (not my idea of fun), but who knows adventures come out unexpectedly and in all shapes and sizes, right?
Let’s see, we are going back to California in August – this time up north, which we are excited about and need suggestions for. So if you have those, don’t hesitate to drop us a line.
And way further down the line, thinking about attending TBEX in November. Have any of you ever been?
